Spring has officially sprung in the Pacific Northwest! And man did that take long enough! Now that the weather has improved tremendously, we have been hitting the trails more and more with Julian and our Jet Pup!

You may remember from when we brought Jet home last year; he is our beloved rescue puppy from the Kitsap Humane Society. He is the biggest character, and has the sweetest demeanor. On walks we can’t even make it 20 feet without someone stopping us to ask his breed. He is half corgi, half black lab! It’s such a peculiar and funny mix, that no one can get enough of him! He’s got that beautiful lab face, and those adorable, and stocky corgi legs. Jet Pup is the biggest snuggler and fancies himself a lap dog. I love it when it’s just him and I in the kitchen together. I’ll be baking or cooking and he’ll be right at my feet the whole time; my little sous chef.

I wanted to share with you all a few tips for making hiking with a puppy a little smoother!

    1. Ensure the trail is pet friendly: I love the Washington Trails Association website for double checking if the trail is good for pets. There will be a little dog icon on each trail profile that is suitable for pups! Super easy to check before taking off.
    2. Rain or shine, pups don’t care: In typical Pacific Northwest weather fashion, we hit some rain showers on our hike! You could probably already tell from my crazy rain hair! I am not a huge fan or hiking in the rain, but I always find it worth it to see how excited Jet gets to be outside. Rain or shine! Kind of like kiddos in that sense. I try to keep a towel in the car for rainy emergencies too! So, grab your rain gear and get outside!
    3. Bring plenty of food and snacks: On our way home from Green Mountain we stopped in  at our local PetSmart to pick up some Purina® Beneful® and some Purina® Beggin’ treats for our pup. I love that you can bring your pups into the store, it always make for some good socialization! We then made a pit stop to the beautiful pet-friendly Clear Creek Trail in Silverdale to let him chow down! A sweet reward after a fun hike.
    4. Travel with portable food and water dishes: I always have two portable dog dishes in my car for our Jet. We like to bring him with us often on hikes or even just for little adventures. These dishes make it so simple to be able to feed him and let him drink on the go! A travel essential in my book.

Our Jet Pup is a special part of our family, and him and Julian are an inseparable pair. It’s no mystery that we love our Jet, and we take pride in giving him the best food and treats. During the month of May at PetSmart, for every $40 you spend on Purina products you receive a $10 PetSmart gift card. You can even upload your receipt to the link provided up until July 9th! We took full advantage of the promotion on our way home from Green Mountain and stocked up. The only mystery in our household is how quickly our pup can go through food! I’m sure it’s the same at your house too!

I hope you get a chance to take advantage of this great offer and treat your pups too! Happy Tuesday everyone!

  1. We take our dog with us as much as possible, but she’s so small she can’t keep up to our strides so we usually put her in a stroller. #client
