Today marks three years of marriage to my Captain Jeff. So much has happened in these last three years, that I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and revisit our wedding day photos. Our wedding day is still one of the best days of my life. Specifically the ceremony. We each wrote our own vows, and that exchange will forever be one of the most meaningful moments of my life.

We got married in our backyard, here on beautiful Bainbridge Island. It made our home even more special to us. As if that was even possible! We were in the midst of remodeling our home at the time of our wedding. Although we had lofty ideas that it would be done before! Our concrete floors were poured just days before our nuptials. Everyone danced and celebrated on what would later be our new living room.

These past three years have brought us two precious babies. One sweetheart of a rescue puppy. And home that we have built together.

We have grown together in incredible ways, and I am forever grateful for our friendship and love. Happy Anniversary my Captain.

Heidi

I have been so eager to share with you all our custom table created by the amazing Barns 2 Home. As the name suggests, Barns 2 Home takes reclaimed barn wood and creates unique pieces for your home.  I was all in with this company when I heard about Barns 2 Home’s mission to “save one million trees.” In working with reclaimed barn wood, they positively impact our environment by decreasing the demand for new lumber. But their craft is what has truly impressed me. When our table arrived, I was blown away with how their team captured our vision. It was like the table had been there all along, it just fit perfectly.

The wood is rich with character, color and attention to detail. Simply put, it’s nothing like you could ever buy in a store. Our home remodel has taken years, and we are still in the process of adding finishing touches along the way. This table has added so much charm to our living room, I stare at it every time I walk by!

We are so pleased with our table and the character it adds to our space. It’s a great feeling to be contributing to Barns 2 Home’s mission of environmental stewardship. But perhaps more exciting is how incredible this work of art looks in our home! Barns 2 Home also supplies re-purposed barn wood, but I think the real magic is in their unique creations. They work with you every step of the way in designing and building custom décor and furniture.  I already have thoughts of designing a gorgeous kids table for arts and crafts!

I cannot rave about Barns 2 Home enough. Be sure to check them out and get started on building your custom piece today!

As I near the end of my pregnancy my energy level is plummeting! Which is a bummer because I still have a zillion things to do to get ready to meet our baby girl! You know, like decorate her room! I had intended on sharing with you all this amazing lemon bar recipe I made recently. I made it for a BBQ we hosted and it was a hit! Julian had more then I’d like to confess. But I’m just too tired to recreate the dish and photograph it. So, I’m just going to build a mountain of suspense over lemon bars. And instead, share with you a little behind the scenes from last week on my Instagram, including a few fun outfits that I wore!

I’ve mentioned this before on my Instagram account, but I think it’s worth mentioning here. I have found maternity fashion to be very challenging for me. A lot of the items I would try on would leave me feeling HUGE and not so excited about being pregnant. Over time, I found that wear more bump hugging outfits was actually really flattering. I’m normally not one for a curve hugging, body-con dress. But I found that they suit me in pregnancy, so I’ve been running with it!

Also, a ton of the items I’m wearing are on sale now through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The sale lasts until August 6th, and I’ve already missed out on a few items that I was lusting over. So, hop on it and snag your favorites. Hope you enjoyed these looks that I wore last week! Follow along for more on instagram: @heidi.stephens.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Kiddos: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds

Lately I have enjoyed shopping for baby girl and Julian much more then for myself. Perhaps because I’m feeling HUGE and so awkward as I near the end of my pregnancy. Anyhow, I took full advantage of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and was able to stock up on a bunch of stuff for my little guy and gal. I wanted to share with you all my favorite finds and the brands that I know and love.

I’m obsessed with joggers lately for my toddler guy because you can size up and just scrunch the legs up a bit. This way I get way more mileage out of the pants, and he doesn’t destroy the hemline! These Freshly Picked moccasins are such a steal! If you haven’t tried these shoes before they are a must in my book. Butter soft and oh so cute! I included this city-mini stroller because the discount is just too good, almost $100 off. We got this in the double stroller for when baby girl arrives. Can’t wait to put it to good use with my two loves!

What are your favorite finds for your kiddos this year? Let me know what you’re getting!

Also, be sure to take a peek at my favorite fashion finds and my favorite self-care/beauty finds!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale runs through Aug 6th, so jump on it while things last!

Self Care: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds

Last week I shared with you all my favorite fashion finds at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Today I wanted to share with you some great sales that will give you a spa like treatment at home! All of these are brands that I know and love myself. Apart from that nail kit, but it is too chic not to include!

I swear by Oribe hair products, after my hairstylist Cassie Michelle got me addicted! And I love that they are offering a travel kit! I’m also just a huge fan of robes and cute matching jammies. Especially now that I’m a mom, I’m sure a lot of you can relate, but somedays you never make it out of your PJ’s. So, might as well throw on some cute ones!

MAC lip kits are always a must for me. I’ve tried a ton, including Kylie’s (don’t judge!) and MAC is hands down my favorite. My friend and esthetician Brenna at Blush by Brenna got me hooked on Arcona beauty products awhile ago and I have never looked back! They have changed my skin.

Hope you find some goodies here to help up your self care at home game! I’m already stocked up on a lot! Hopefully my husband isn’t ready this…

Regular access to the sale begins today-Aug 6th, so jump on it! I’ve already ordered a few things and then later got an email that they are sold out, so seriously, get on it! Shop the full sale here!

The early access Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has officially begun! The most wonderful time of the year for shopping! My mother raised me on Nordstrom, and this is my absolute favorite sale of the year. I stock up on lots of basics that I buy year after year, and I grab a few pieces to wear throughout the autumn and winter months. I usually pick up some new boots, a versatile bag, and some cozy sweaters. But I have to tell you, being so big and pregnant has not exactly put me in the mood to shop.  Woe is me, I know. But then I realized, I have just a few more weeks of maternity life! And having some new, stylish pieces to wear may be a nice way to transition out of maternity wear. Above are some of my favorites from the NSALE!

Early access for Nordstrom credit and debit card holders runs from July 13th-20th, regular access begins July 21st-Aug 6th. Shop the full sale here!

Are you a diehard Nordies fan too? What pieces are you eyeing?! Let me know!

The Unique Ways I Keep Harsh Ingredients Out of Our Home

Take a peek at how I keep harsh ingredients out of our home! Thank you to Collective Bias for sponsoring this post. All opinions are mine alone, and I take pride in showcasing the best products for you all! #FreeOfSulfates #CollectiveBias

Keeping harsh chemicals out of our home, using sulfate free products for our family

Keeping harsh chemicals out of our home, using sulfate free products for our family. Sulfate free leads to a natural shine!

When I was in nursing school I remember learning about the dirty dozen for the first time. It is a list of the 12 types of produce that have the highest pesticide residues. I was fascinated with the idea of how chemicals were coming into our homes. Especially from something as seemingly harmless as a piece of fruit!

Fast forward to becoming a mom, and I am even more contentious about the food and products that I buy for our family. That’s why I was so excited to try out some new sulfate free products in our household. I stopped in at our local Walmart to pick up all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® and AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner. I want the best products for my family and for myself. And I believe that means using more natural products. I’m excited to share with you all a few unique ways that I keep harsh chemicals out of our home!

  1. Buy organic when possible: Like I mentioned before, I am particular about buying organic produce for our family. I understand that buying organic is not always possible, depending on your budget. That’s why I like to stick to the dirty dozen list and avoid the produce that carries the most pesticides! It’s one little way that I can ensure my family is eating whole, chemical free foods.
  2. Use sulfate free hair products: Using sulfate free hair products create a natural shine all their own. I couldn’t believe how shiny my hair looked after using the AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner! That’s every gal’s dream, right? Plus, the scent is out of this world, I felt like I was in a spa! If you’re like me, you’re already taking the time to keep chemicals out of your body with the foods you eat. Why not take that extra step and keep those harsh chemicals off of your body as well? AVEENO PURE RENEWAL® Shampoo and Conditioner contains naturally derived cleansers and a sulfate free formula to gently cleanse your hair and scalp. Look for it in the Hair Care aisle at your local Walmart, and here is a coupon for $1 off one AVEENO® product!
  3. Keep harsh ingredients off your clothes: As a mom, I’m always looking for more natural ways to perform my daily tasks. It was a breath of fresh air to see that all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® now includes its ingredients on the back of the bottle. You know with certainty what is going into your laundry, and in turn what is ending up on your family! New sulfate free all® fresh clean ESSENTIALS® delivers a powerful clean with harshness. The sulfate-free formula provides effective ingredients for a deep cleaning and stain lifting that any can get behind. Look for it on the top shelf in the laundry aisle at your local Walmart. Bonus! Here is a coupon for $0.50 off one all® product, while supplies last. It all makes a difference in my book!

I’d love to hear how you keep harsh chemicals out of your homes! Let me know in the comments!

Great outfit for Memorial Day Weekend or 4th of July Perfect off the shoulder summer dress. Only $14! Great outfit for Memorial Day Weekend or 4th of July

(Dress: SheIn, Bag: Nordstrom under $50, Wedges: Nordstrom)

It has been some time since I’ve done a strictly fashion centered post! Valentine’s Day to be exact! So I thought it was about time! And this off the shoulder dress is too perfect not to share with you guys. It’s non-maternity, but roomy enough to work with my bump. I simply love the off the shoulder look. It’s always been one of my favorites, as I find it to be flattering on lots of different shapes and sizes. I think that deep blue shade makes it the perfect dress for a this weekend’s Memorial Day celebrations! Or even for a Fourth of July celebration. There’s just something about a navy hue that makes me feel patriotic.

I’ve saved the best new for last. This dress is only $14! Seriously! Such a steal. The laser cut out eyelets are so pretty and feminine up close. This dress is a must for our upcoming summer season. Now we just need that warm weather to stay! Have a great day everyone!

Spring To-Do List

Fresh hydrangea flowers in white kitchen at spring. Spring to do list, spring time activities in the Pacific Northwest for rainy or sunny days with toddler.
Fresh blooms for Springtime

Spring is the welcome breath of fresh air that we all need after the dreary winter months. Spring can be fickle in the Pacific Northwest, as it can often feel a lot like winter. I like to look for the subtle cues that the seasons are changing. For me, it’s hearing the chorus of frogs return to our ponds, and seeing our tulips beginning to bud. The never-ending rain during the springtime months can be hard to handle, so it’s fun to have a seasonal to-do list to keep the time feeling rich. It’s also important to have a good balance of indoor and outdoor activities. But sometimes you need to just throw on your rain boots and enjoy the puddles!

I have always loved making these lists, but it has been particularly fun to share them with you all and hear what’s on your lists! You can check out my autumn list and my winter list on the blog. Tell me, what’s on your spring to-do list? I’d love to know! Maybe I’ll see you at the cherry blossoms!

  1. Visit my alma mater, The University of Washington, to see the beautiful cherry blossoms in bloom. There’s nothing like it!
  2. Finally learn how to make a flower crown from my favorite florist, Leah Erickson Floral. You may remember her from all the gorgeous blooms at Julian’s first birthday party.
  3. Book “The Perfect Facial” with Blush by Brenna to get my Springtime glow on. Bye bye dull winter skin!
  4. Work on our home’s curb appeal. I tend to focus all of my energy on our home’s interiors, so our exterior is lacking some charm right now. Would love to put in more pavers and have a proper entryway into our home.
  5. Take a sunny day trip to our family’s beach cabin. The cabin is in Home, WA, a former nudist colony, and one of the most beautiful spots in Washington. We simply don’t visit enough.
  6. Add some spring color to our home with simple pieces like fresh flowers, colorful pillows and vibrant dish towels. Love these blues, and these pinks.
  7. Perfect my lemon ricotta pancake recipe for Easter Sunday breakfast.
  8. Deep clean the house from top to bottom. I have a few helpful lists saved to my Pinterest that I’ve always wanted to stick to, but could never make it past three weeks. Maybe this is my season.
  9. Bake with seasonal produce. Strawberries, lemons, and rhubarb come to mind. Yum!
  10. Take Julian to his first Mariner’s baseball game at Safeco Field. Garlic fries please.

xx,

Heidi
