Growing up in Washington state, my dad would jokingly call my sister and I “Puget Sound Debutantes.” And I guess the title kind of stuck. My everyday style is very simple and laid back. You can find me in jeans and a t-shirt just about everyday. Like a lot of women, I have fun getting dressed up and dolled up. I like to do my makeup, and look my best. I have posted some of my dressier looks on the blog before, (also here and here) but the reality is that everyday life in the Pacific Northwest can get a little soggy. When my husband is gone at work for extended periods of time, I need to be the man and the woman of the house. Which often means function over form while I’m headed to the island dump. Yes, I have to take our trash to the dump.
I have found simple ways to dress myself up and make myself feel feminine, while living out in the country. Even just wearing a sweater instead of a sweatshirt, or putting on a simple pair of earrings can do wonders for my mood. I like to feel put together, but, most of all, I still need to be able to get get my hands dirty when needed.
I think it’s fun to embrace all sides of one’s style, and I wanted to give you all a glimpse at my everyday look. So here it is! With 3 day old hair, very little makeup and a puffy vest. What’s your everyday style? Is your style more form or function? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to know!
